There is NO agreement
The IEU has been advised by members that Catholic dioceses in NSW and ACT "have finalised your new multi-enterprise agreement covering Teachers and General Employees in Catholic systemic schools". Further, the employers intend to put the Agreement to vote in the second last week of Term 3.
No agreement has been reached by IEU and Catholic employers.
The Catholic employers have NOT provided a comprehensive finalised Agreement to the Union nor have they recently met with the Union to discuss the document.
The issue of arbitration has NOT been resolved. Other issues are also in dispute.
In many dioceses, including Sydney, Parramatta, Bathurst, Canberra and Goulburn and others, there are also significant issues still outstanding in work practice agreements. IEU's capacity to resolve these matters satisfactorily will be jeopardised if the Agreement is put to a vote at this stage.
If these disputed matters are not resolved prior to the vote on the proposed Agreement, IEU would have no choice but to strongly advocate a NO vote.
Response to IEU Motion
The Union has had an overwhelming response to the motion to commence the process for protected action ballots. Nearly 500 schools across NSW and the ACT have already supported the motion and responses continue to pour in.
The Union will send further information next week regarding the ballot process.
The Union congratulates members on their strong resolve to ensure that all your rights are protected including the right to enforce enterprise agreement entitlements and the provisions of work practices agreements by arbitration.
