IEU receives letter of support from OECTA
IEU has received a letter from the president of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association, Liz Stuart, in support of IEU's position in the ongoing dispute with CCER. OECTA is a Canadian union of 45 000 members, which since the 90s, has had an effective and collegial relationship with IEU. In the letter, Stuart writes,
"For the employer to change their interpretation of your agreement language, issue erroneous and misleading statements, and then attempt to prevent your members from taking strike action, is an extraordinary assault on the very foundation of collective bargaining."
This letter gives international recognition to IEU's objective: securing an Enterprise Agreement which upholds the rights of its members.
